A Japanese Ceramic Winter-Chawan Kyoto, Awata-Yaki (粟田焼) Cup
Signed Kinkozan (錦光山)
With an almost straight body on a small irregular foot ring, painted in thick dark blue enamel with stylised flowers and leafy scrolls formig spirals on a dull brown ground, the inside with a thin brownish glaze.
The Kinkozan family of potters were active from the second half of the 17th to the first quarter of the 20th century.

This is a very interesting piece belonging possibly to the 10th centuy AD.
Almost ancient pieces such as this one was used as daily items for the rich back in the 10th or 9th century in Chinese Empire.It is very hard to classify it as Yue Ware but it does certainly shows very similar decor and shape. These pieces were generally and typically decorated with Celadon Glazing.

They are known as the ancestors and the sources of inspiration to Song Dynastie's Celadon Glazed pieces.
